Khamenei Cautions Against U.S. Attack
Speaking at a gathering in Tehran ahead of the 47th commemoration of the 1979 Islamic Revolution that brought an end to the Pahlavi monarchy, Khamenei stated, “If the US initiates a war this time, it would spill over across the entire region.”
He downplayed Washington’s decision to send aircraft carriers and naval vessels to the Persian Gulf, characterizing such deployments as “nothing new” and part of a familiar pattern.
According to Khamenei, U.S. leaders have repeatedly issued comparable threats in previous years, frequently asserting that “all options are on the table,” including the use of military force.
Referring to U.S. President Donald Trump, Khamenei remarked, “Now this man too constantly claims that ‘we brought warships’ and so on,” dismissing the rhetoric as repetitive and unoriginal.
He emphasized that such statements should not alarm the Iranian public, adding, “The Iranian nation should not be frightened by such things. The people of Iran are not influenced by these threats.”
Earlier in the week, Trump wrote on social media that a large “armada” was moving toward Iran, while simultaneously calling on Tehran to begin negotiations without delay.
That message intensified speculation about a potential American strike, triggering sharp responses from Iranian authorities and accelerating diplomatic efforts across the region.
Khamenei reiterated that Iran would not be the aggressor and “does not seek to attack any country,” while warning that the nation would “deliver a firm blow to anyone who attacks or harasses it.”
