LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Dome Fest West today announced the appointment of Dan Tell and Phil Streather to its Board of Directors. Both bring deep experience spanning the planetarium and giant screen worlds, two communities that increasingly intersect as immersive storytelling evolves across domes, science centers, and specialty theaters.

“Dan and Phil represent the rare combination of technical excellence, creative ambition, and community leadership that Dome Fest West was built to champion,” said Ryan Moore, Executive Director of Dome Fest West. “As we enter our fifth year and present 38 films across nine thematic blocks at Fiske Planetarium, their experience will help us strengthen the bridge between creators and operators, so more ambitious immersive work can thrive in the venues that bring it to millions of viewers.”

Dan Tell is an immersive technology systems engineer, media producer, science visualizer, and live presenter. With decades of experience in planetariums and interactive exhibits, Dan’s passion is empowering dynamic live storytelling through flexible and dependable technology systems. He has provided systems engineering and visualization expertise for multiple award-winning planetarium shows, along with technology consulting support for groundbreaking immersive theatrical experiences. As founder of Tau Immersive, Dan works with planetariums and venues around the world to unlock their potential through technology. Dan served as President of the Great Lakes Planetarium Association, was a juror for FullDome Festival Jena, served on committees for the International Planetarium Society, and was a keynote speaker for the Planetarium Centennial in 2023.

“Dan brings a builder’s mindset to immersive storytelling,” said Ryan Moore, Executive Director of Dome Fest West. “He understands what it takes to support live presentation, reliable systems, and ambitious creative work inside domes. That perspective is essential as fulldome continues to evolve and venues look for flexible, dependable ways to deliver extraordinary experiences.”

Phil Streather is a film producer specializing in Giant Screen IMAX and other immersive documentaries, and an active consultant advising producers on IMAX 3D documentary craft for science museums and institutions. He recently completed work on Arctic 3D for the BBC, distributed by SK Films, serving as Giant Screen Consultant and Stereo Supervisor. Arctic 3D won five out of six film awards at the Giant Screen Cinema Association annual awards in September 2023, including Best Sound, Best Score, Best Cinematography, Best Film for Life Long Learning, and Best Film, shared with Howard and Michelle Hall. Phil’s credits also include the IMAX film Bugs!, narrated by Judi Dench, a multiple award winner that was inducted into the IMAX Hall of Fame in 2018. Phil is a board member of the Giant Screen Cinema Association and a full voting member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

“Phil has spent his career at the intersection of cinematic craft, museum audiences, and large format immersive production,” said Ryan Moore, Executive Director of Dome Fest West. “As we scale the festival and build stronger pathways between content and venues, his experience in giant screen documentary and institutional distribution brings valuable insight into how immersive work can reach broader audiences and succeed in specialized theaters.”

Dome Fest West is North America’s only festival dedicated to fulldome cinema, showcasing 38 carefully curated films from international filmmakers across nine thematic programming blocks. The organization is entering its fifth year and continues to expand its annual film festival alongside the Fulldome Forward Expo, a connected industry gathering that supports creators and venue leaders with conversations, collaboration, and practical pathways for immersive content to reach audiences.

The 2026 festival takes place April 23 to 26 at Fiske Planetarium in Boulder, Colorado. Built for two audiences whose work is inseparable, Dome Fest West convenes the creators redefining fulldome and planetarium cinema from the inside, and the venue operators, programmers, and managers who carry that content into planetariums, science centers, and dome theaters for millions of viewers every year. Programming spans everything from cutting-edge astronomical visualizations to experimental artistic works, with community connection emphasized through post-screening Q&A sessions, networking opportunities, and collaborative experiences that advance the fulldome medium.

The festival’s New Dimensions theme reflects a movement transforming cinema into a spatial industry while honoring the planetarium tradition of immersive media used to educate and inspire students and communities year-round. For Dome Fest West 2026, New Dimensions is expressed through a program that pairs artistic innovation with real-world venue needs, helping creators understand distribution realities and helping operators discover standout work they can program with confidence.
